Jan. 17 @ Mustache Co. Bikes - Greenville, NC
As we were waiting around in the space before the show, this guy named Thomas was teaching me to juggle sort of. He was a man of many talents. Juggling, breakdancing, knife-throwing, unicycle-riding, etc. etc.
Ben talked to him for a really long time and found that he was a very spiritual and dedicated person. It's cool to meet interesting people like that.
We had set everything up in this back corner of the space. Unfortunately, during our set, a pipe leaked sewage water very close to our equipment, and we had to rushingly vacuum up sewage before it reached our equipment. That was a total bummer. Beyond that, the space and acoustics were great, as we came early and took a long time to set up and sound check. A good amount of people came out to the show, including a bunch of the friends I made when I was touring with Future Islands. Everyone was pretty enthusiastic.
I got mildly spiritual during this show (where I'm so into playing the music that it feels like its flowing out of the ends of my arms and all through my bones and out of my face into the crowd). I think i'm getting little moments of spirituality when we play, a little bit at a time, a little more in every city. This was a good space for shows, and I hope they can figure out all the logistics of the space so that Greenville can have some decent and consistent shows.
Cool dudes we met: Jake (runs the shop), Thomas (juggling dude), Lydia + Kate (Jake's friends), Mike (Thickest beard ever), Dale (Good Times).
